about me
-
Katie started as a News Intern at WFSB Channel 3 in May 2022. As an intern, she shadowed producers, reporters, photographers, and digital content producers. After only three weeks as an intern, she was asked to stay on as a producer working part time. She spent one year working multiple times a week as a fill-in producer on the Noon newscast, 4pm newscast, and lifestyle shows.
After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in May 2023, she started a role as a full time producer, and was soon producing the 4pm newscast everyday. It is an hour long show with local and national news. She is responsible for pitching stories to news managers and reporters, picking stories for the show, writing scripts, and making graphics.
Katie loves working as a producer, but hopes to become a news reporter in the future.

After finding her passion for broadcast news in high school, Katie picked Quinnipiac University as the next stop on her path. She enrolled in 2020 as a student in the prestigious 3+1 program, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Journalism in 3 years and her masters degree in Integrated Communications and Media in her 4th year.
In classes for journalism, Katie was able to learn about print and broadcast news. With a customizable schedule, she selected classes focusing on visual content, which allowed her to grow her portfolio.
As a student in her undergrad years, Katie got heavily involved with Q30 Television, the student run television station on campus. She worked every Wednesday with the news department to produce a 30 minute newscast. She started as a beat reporter for the town of Hamden, then was promoted to an Associate Producer, then an Executive Producer. Those roles required her to create news content, including VOSOTs and packages, weekly. She also got the chance to anchor the news shows often.
While in Q30TV, Katie received many awards, including Producer of the Year for the 2022-2023 academic year. After the organization entered one of her stories into a national competition, the Pinnacle College Media Awards, she won third place for a package in the breaking news coverage category.
Once she moved on to her masters degree, Katie took a wide variety of classes relating to the media industry. These included UI and UX, animation, web design, social media management, content strategy, and more.
